And the Yolandas MC doesn’t just stop there, her timing, delivery and the texture of her voice leaves you thinking that you’ve arrived inside the metaverse.

Ke was born into a military family in Jacksonville, FL and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. She started out singing but eventually developed a deep love for hip hop as she along with her older brothers, listened to greats such as Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick and EPMD just to name a few. She was also heavily inspired by MC Lyte as well as other notable female emcees Queen Latifah, Nikki D & Antoinette. All of these inspirations gave her a strong foundation that serves her well when it comes to crafting wordplay. She honed in on her stage presence and rhyme skills when she joined an all-female hip hop group called ‘Gypcees’ where she was able to share stages with major artists like The Roots, Redman and Wyclef. It was during this tenure she was introduced to and worked with some of VA’s dopest producers such as Pete Twist, Joe City and Nottz.

Excuse us, that’s Grammy nominated producer Nottz of (9th Wonder’s Soul Council).

When Ke Turner became solo, she eventually relocated from Virginia to Atlanta and since then she’s linked with many creatives collaborating and performing across the city, most notably with an arts guild called Fresh & Local.

Ke’s foundation is the boombap sound but she doesn’t like to be put into a box. Ask her why and she will tell you it’s because she’s a Gemini. All you zodiac sun sign fanatics already know how Gemini’s do.

She invites different styles that she feels will make her a well-rounded artist and she desires for her presence to help even the scales on how women behind the mic are represented.
